Summer Fun...

Ok, I REALLY want to get some more followers, so I'm going to try posting about 3 times a week!

Here are a few shots of our first boating trip of the summer. We went over to Clinton Lake on Sunday and even though the weather didn't entirely cooperate, we did get [some] sun around 4:30pm! It was Anthony's first time on a boat and he did swimmingly (pun intended)!! Here are a few pictures:My little Cap'n

Our Memorial Day weekend was great, we got some things done around the house and spent some time with great family and friends...what more can a gal ask for?!

I'm currently working on getting daycare "stuff" organized, and then I'll have some DIY pictures to post of the hubs staining the deck, some craft stuff of mine, etc. I need to start getting my blog OUT THERE for peeps to see! :)

Pantry Orginization

During naptime on Tuesday I was able to get our pantry cleaned out and inventoried. I CANNOT believe how much stuff I had to throw away (expired...the oldest thing expired in 2007!!!) and I also made a box to donate to the local food pantry. I think sometimes I get just a little too experimental when I'm grocery shopping. I think I'm going to try something new, but then I get home and it just really sounds like a bad idea =/

So, here's the BEFORE:Its not HORRIBLE, but I had no clue what all was in there! Our pantry is basically just a large cabinet, so many things get lost in the back :(

Sadly, now it just looks so empty!

Things on Thursday- 5/26/11

I'm Baaaack!

Finally after a few weeks of complete chaos around my house, I am back in order and I plan to start blogging a lot more. *I know, I know* I say that ALL the time, but this time I mean it! :)

So, my 5 Things on Thursday...

1. How cute is my little man?! He climbed into his rocking chair this morning and I gave him his blankie, his monkey and a book and he sat there, reading for a while...ofcorse I also had to turn the radio on so he could hear his tunes!

2. In the beginning of the year I joined a Flickr group and I've really been enjoying it! Even though, at times, I slack a bit (we are supposed to have our pictures posted by Sunday night, and some of mine may, or may not have been posted on Monday...oops!), I am really learning some new techniques, and I love it. Here's my most recent submission:


3. I am really looking forward to seeing Hangover 2 this weekend! I bust up laughing at just the commercials!

4. Last night was definitely one of the scariest storms I've ever been in. Anthony, Travis and I spent about 1/2 an hour in the laundry room, in our basement, under the stairs! I cant help but feel for the poor people in Joplin, and all over the midwest that have been struck by tornadoes over the past week! I was scared, and there was barely any damage reported in our area!

5. And last, but not least, word to the wise: never take your eyes off your child...especially when he can climb up to your computer desk and find a permanent marker:

Happy Easter

I hope everyone was able to spend today with loved ones! We had a VERY eventful day...it turns out! We went over to my DH's parents' house and had fun with an Easter egg hunt:

Then after we got home, Anthony was playing on the couch, fell off and got this:


After a little blood and lots of hugs and kisses, we're pretty sure he'll survive ; )

Organizing...kitchen drawers

As I said in my last post, I've been OBSESSED with reading blogs lately. I think my absolute favorite is http://orgjunkie.com/blog . On her site, Laura is hosting a 52 week organizing project I have started trying to keep up and here is this week's attempt!

CLEANING OUT MY DRAWERS!!



















I got the sorting baskets at Dollar Tree, the three small ones were $1/3 and the long ones were $1 a piece. So...for about $4 I was able to make our "junk" drawer manageable and i heart it!











I also took a stab at our pot holder/cutting boards/random utensils drawer. I didn't get a "before" picture, but here's the after! Much better!

Things on Thursday...

1. I've spent the past couple of evenings working on sorting out Anthony's outgrown clothes. What an undertaking! I'm still not completely done, but I have made some serious headway. I'll be doing a whole post on my process, with pictures and all ;)

2. I am officially addicted to reading blogs! I follow mostly ones about household/life organization, crafty/DIY type things and money saving/couponing. Reading about others that like to organize and seeing their ideas and projects has definitely motivated me to get this house under control!

3. I bought some Yankee Candle potpourri last night at Bed Bath & Beyond...it's Pineapple Cilantro flavor, and it's amazing! its the best smelling potpourri I've found yet! And to top if off... I got to use TWO coupons ($10 off purchase of $30 and 20% off one item) SCORE!!

4. As I said in #1, I've been organizing Anthony's outgrown clothes and I am officially in love with Space Bags !! They are great for storing a lot of things in a small space!

5. I finally got some pictures of Anthony's bedroom completely put together and clean! I figured I'd better take a picture or two since it was actually CLEAN!




Well, that's about it for this week. I know this post is a day late, but if it counts for anything, I started it yesterday but wanted to add pictures so had to wait until tonight when I could get to the desktop downstairs. :)

Things on Tuesday (instead of Thursday ;)

1. I love that the weather has (mostly) switched over to spring...but I DO NOT feel the same way about the sinus headache I woke up with this morning! Sudafed...here I come!

2. Anthony has started watching Barney! I know most parents think I'm crazy for introducing the two of them, but Anthony really loves Barney and hopefully he's learning something! :)



3. I made the BEST creamy chicken crockpot meal last night:
2-3 chicken breasts (adjust to number of people you're serving)
1 can black beans
1 can corn
approx 1.5 c salsa
8 oz cream cheese

put chicken, beans, corn and salsa in crock pot on low for 4-5 hrs
about 1/2 an hour before serving, add cream cheese and once melted, stir

I served it over rice and it was a HUGE hit!

4. I seriously can't wait for pool weather!!! I'm dying to get out of this house!

5. If you're looking for a gym to join...check out Cardinal Fitness. They don't offer classes, but they have all the usual cardio machines and weights. I love it there! If you sign up, give them my name, I'll get a month free ;)
