Things on Thursday...on Monday ;)

ok, so its been 1 week and I'm already slacking...sorry!

1. on Thursday my little brother, Chris, had surgery to deal with some kidney stones...everything went perfectly, and I am beyond grateful to his doctors...so much so that it is bringing tears to my eyes right now.

2. I have NEVER had such chapped.ips as I do right now...anyone have a suggestion on how to heal them? I've been using chopstick and neosporin, but I still look like Angilina Jolie!

3. I lost 3 pounds last week! it's always great to be successful the first week of a diet!

4. I LOVE the lint fluffy snow we got last night! <3

5. I am so excited that everyone seemed to love the lasagna I made for dinner last night! i think its the Italian in me :) and the best compliment was that my nephew, Hayden, ate every last bite...his dad said that's the most he's seen him eat in MONTHS!

6. Even though I know it's hard on his crib, I think its funny that Anthony will lay on his back and kick the heck out of his crib railings

7. I got my Cricut Expression and Design Studio on Saturday! I'm dying to get downstairs and lock myself in my room and scrapbook!!!

8. Rit now I'm watching Kathy Lee & Hoda on the 4th hours of Today, these two crack me up.

9. I "joined" caloriecounter.com and, apparently, it helps with weight loss. I think its just the accountability of writing down everything you eat.

10. I'm really proud of myself for getting up off the couch yesterday afternoon to put laundry away, I told myself "you'll be glad it's done tonight when you want to go to bed!" - and it worked!

recovered...

Wow! what a couple of days we've had around here! I woke up in the middle of the night Thursday with the flu, then Anthony had it by the time I got him up :(. Luckily we are all better today.

after a day of cleaning, scrubbing, spraying and soaking every inch of every thing we touched since Wednesday....I am hoping we have every last germ out of here! just in time for work tomorrow.

I have to say a special thank you to Steph Reeser and Mom2 (Pilchard) for all their help! Not to mention my sweet hubby that took Friday off of work to take care of the two of us sicklings!

so now back to the real world... recovered!

oh, and by the way, the quiche wasn't any good...and we won't be eating quiche for a while.... even though its not what MADE me sick...I've had enough for a while ;)

Things on Thursday

A friend of mine does a "Ten on Tuesday" post to her family blog -every Tuesday (duh!) I always enjoy reading the ten things she's thankful for, thinking about or just pondering... so I'm going to try it too, but on Thursdays!

1. Today is a light load for me, only one baby other than Anthony! that is always nice, I love laying on the floor playing blocks!

2. it means so much more than I thought it would that my son, at only 13 months old, is so sweet and kind. He gives hugs and kisses and is amazing with the 11 week old baby I watch. This morning -first thing- Anthony gave Caden a big hug! <3

3. I'm going to try making a Quiche for dinner tonight...I'll let you know if that's a good or bad thing ;)

4. I'm hoping to get Anthony out in the snow this weekend...for the first time

5. The same friend that gave me the idea for this post suggests a 3:1 mixture of vinegar and water in a spray bottle, spritz your windshield at night and you won't have ice in the morning! I haven't tried it yet, but plan to :)

6. I am a little addicted to Walmart, I'm pretty sure anthony thinks it is his second home!

7. I'm also addicted to watching Days of Our Lives...regardless of how stupid it gets...I can't stop watching...WHY?!

8. I think it's hilarious that if you hang out at our house for a little bit you'll inevitably have a bucket put on your head at some point :)

9.I'm so excited to go scrapbooking this Saturday...a whole day of scrapping is loooong overdue

10. I miss a lot of my family that live up north...I don't miss "up north" though ;)

Travis' Birthday (Homemade) Dinner

since Travis loves shrimp, he asked me to make him a shrimp dinner for his birthday. Off I went looking through my cookbooks trying to find something simple enough to put together with a 13 month old running around at my feet, but that I also already had all the ingredients for too! Thanks to Giada De Laurentis, I found this:

Shrimp Fra Diavolo (over linguine)

1 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dried crushed red pepper flakes
3 tbs olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes with juice
1 cup dry white wine
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1/4 tsp oregano
3 tbs chopped flat-leaf parsley (I used dried)
3 tbs chopped fresh basil (I used dried).

in a medium bowl, toss shrimp in 1tsp salt and red pepper flakes (use less (or eliminate) red pepper flakes if you don't like spicy food). In a large skillet, heat oil and sauté shrimp until cooked through, about 2 minutes. Using slotted spoon, remove shrimp and set aside. Add onion. to the same skillet and sauté until translucent. Add tomatoes with their juices, wine, garlic and oregano, and simmer until the sauces thicken slightly. Return shrimp and any accumulated juices to the tomato mixture and toss to coat. Remove from the heat and stir in the parsley and basil. Season with more salt to taste. Spoon shrimp over cooked linguine.

it was a huge hit, even though it was SPICY!

Trying again...

Well, I started this blog a couple years ago and apparently just forgot all about it!

after writing throughout my pregnancy, and reading some friends' blogs, I have decided to try again!

Since the last post, a LOT has happened. Travis and I welcomed our beautiful son, Anthony, into our lives...which also happens to be the best thing I've ever done! Anthony, or A and I affectionately like to call him, is the light of my life. He brings a smile to my face multiple times a day. He is now 13 mo this old and has the most personality I've ever seen in such a small person!

I no longer work for the engineering firm, I have started my own daycare in our home. So far it has been an absolute blessing to be able to spend all day with Anthony! I currently watch a 9 month old girl (who also happens to be my best friend's daughter); an 18 month old girl part-time; and just started a 2 month old boy today! I was a little nervous having another teeny, tiny baby around, but the whole day went amazingly well!

Right now I'm resting a bit while A naps, but I hear him waking up so I'd better go. but I'm going to try to update more often with pictures and maybe a tip or tidbit about my life or things I've discovered ;)
